Game Recap

The Beech Grove Hornets defeated Pendleton Heights Friday night 10/31 in dominating fashion in the 2nd round of the IHSAA State Tournament. With snow making an appearance in the pre-game, the Hornets’ excitement and energy allowed them rise to the occasion in the elements to defeat the Arabians 46-0.

Beech Grove was once again clicking on all cylinders, with the offense gaining 433 yards of total offense and the defense earning its first shutout of the season. Senior RB Ryan Ward rushed for 163 yards and 2 TDs to go along with several tackles on the defensive side of the ball as well. Sophomore QB Chase Andries added 3 TDs on the ground as well as 1 through the air to Senior WR Matt Baughman. The offensive line was most impressive for the Hornets, paving the way for 388 yards rushing of the team’s 433 total yards.

The win brings the Hornets to 7-4 on the season and advances Beech Grove to the sectional championship game, its first since 2000. Beech Grove will host 4A #2 New Palestine 11/7 at 7 PM in search of a sectional championship.
