As the student population grows here at BGHS, it is becoming more difficult for athletes to rise to the top. Some have embraced the challenge while other have wilted a bit. Lizzie Giller is one that has embraced it.
Under the guidance of our outstanding volleyball staff, led by head coach Lindsey Hall, Lizzie earned 4 varsity letters and was named to the All-Conference team in the ultra competitive Indiana Crossroads Conference.
Before choosing to focus solely on volleyball, she earned 3 varsity letters in basketball and 2 in track. To show that she models our school corporations insistence that our athletes be students first, Lizzie currently carries a 3.27 GPA and is ranked 47th in a class of 169 students. Through her success here at Beech Grove and involvement in Team Indiana Volleyball, Lizzie quickly popped up on the radar screen of college coaches at all levels. She has decided to accept an invitation to enroll at the University of Evansville. A visit to the website of the Purple Aces shows just how excited they are to secure Lizzie as a student athlete. The coaching staff used words like, aggressive and high ceiling as reasons for their recruiting. The phrase high ceiling reaffirms they see what we already know: As good as she has been here, her best is yet to come.
While we’re proud of her accomplishments and we will miss her, we’re just as excited about the next phase of Lizzie’s journey. Good luck!
