Coach Osborne recently took some time to give us a preview of the upcoming Girls Cross Country season. Here are his thoughts about the program and it’s transformation since he started coaching four years ago.
Going into my fourth year coaching cross country at Beech Grove I have seen a transformation of runners here. When I first started coaching here my first year, I had a total of 3 girls who were committed to running cross country. The season ended with having 6 consistent girls running. Now we have 10 girls running with 8 of them returning from last years team. The Summer workouts went well, with many of the girls putting in more miles over the summer than in years past. The Beech Grove girls team is lead by Semi-State qualifier and All Conference runner Kyli Luna(12th grade). Behind here is a strong group of returning runners; Makenna Bourff(10th grade), Delaney Trimble(11th grade), Bree Parry(12th grade), Taylor Senariz(11th grade), Sarah Armstrong(12th grade), Michayla Darling(12th grade) and Abby Strahla(11th grade). The Lady Hornets also have to new runners who should contribute, Megan Goldman(9th grade), and Emily Johnson(9th grade). The expectations for the Lady Hornets are very high, and the girls should compete at a high level during the entire season.
