Multiple Teams · Smiley to State & Champions Together Success

Highlights from Matt English – BGHS Athletic Director

Couple of big events from the weekend that deserve recognition:

First, sophomore wrestler Ethan Smiley is making a return trip to the IHSAA State Wrestling Championship this coming weekend at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
Ethan finished second at the New Castle semi-state, narrowly dropping the championship match by a score of 4-2.
Ethan is making his second trip to the state finals and will be looking for bigger and better results this time around. Ethan will first take to the mat Friday evening; we will publish exact time and opponent later in the week.
Great job Ethan and congratulations to him and the entire BGHS wrestling program!
Second, a big shout out to Garret Daniel, Quinten Starks and Gabrielle Fangman. These three, along with the BGHS Student Leadership Committee, were the driving force behind the Champions Together event that took place Saturdayafternoon in between the jv and varsity boys’ basketball games. The program involved students of varying abilities and it was a great success. The involvement of the BGHS and Rushville basketball teams was tremendous and our student leaders displayed great enthusiasm for the event. The excitement and enjoyment shown by the students involved in the game is impossible to describe here, but it really was awesome to witness in a person.
Great job to Garret, Quin, Gabrielle, the Student Leadership Committee and all the students involved…it was a great display of what BGCS is all about!
Congrats to everyone on their success over the weekend…Keep up the great work!
