Over the weekend, a number of Hornet athletes put in tremendous work!
Friday evening, the girls hoops team got the weekend started in a big way, downing southside rival Roncalli by a score of 62-42. This marks the girls first win over the Lady Rebels in more than 10 seasons. Once again, a trio of juniors led they way for the Lady Hornets.
Junior forwards Katie Giller and Mallory Storms dominated the point, combining for 29 points (Giller 19, Storms 10) and 22 rebounds (Giller 15, Storms 7), while classmate Cameron Cardenas patrolled the perimeter, striking for 27 points.
The win pushes the girls record to 13-2 for the season. The ladies are back in action Thursday at Whiteland and Saturday at Speedway. Great job girls, keep it going!!
Not to be outdone, boys and girls swimming and the wrestling program all turned in fine performances on Saturday.

Finally, a shout out to the varsity wrestlers, who were in action at the New Palestine Invitational. According to Coach Irwin, the team took a step forward Saturday, finishing 3rd in an extremely tough field.
Continuing his stellar junior season, Ethan Smiley dominated in the 132 lb weight class, going undefeated and winning the championship. Not to be outdone, junior classmate Bailey Moore also brought home the championship in the 138lb weight class.
Kody Conaway continues to put in good work, finishing 3rd at 113. Coach Irwin also cited junior Adam Perra (6th, 145), senior Nate Sanchez (5th, 160), Ely Shockley (170), senior Austin Smith (182), junior Isaiah Greene (220) and heavy weight Brandon Cagg (4th) as showing great improvement over the weekend.
