Hope you had a relaxing and enjoyable long weekend!

Now that we are back in the swing, I wanted to share with you some outstanding work done by our athletes here at BGHS

The Lady Hornets basketball team got things started last Thursday, knocking off former Mid-State foe Whiteland by a score of 53-50. Junior forward Katie Giller led the way with 28 pts and 13 rebs. Junior classmate Cameron Cardenas chipped in with 20 points.

Also Thursday night, the boys swim team dominated another former Mid-State opponent, Greenwood, by a score of 107-76.

With the win, the  Hornets pushed their season record to 5 wins, 2 losses.
The Hornets won 9 of 12 events
    Brent Strahla’s winning time in the 50 yard freestyle, of 22.29, moves him into a tie for 3rd on the BG all time top 10 list for that event.
    Janis Vuskalns’ winning time in the 100 breast stroke, of 1:06.02, moves him into 10th place on the all-time top 10 list for that event.

The Freshman 200 Freestyle Relay team of Trent Eckstein, Logan Boyce, Andy Galvez and Brian Sorensen broke the freshman record with a time of 1:47.22.

The girls hoopers were back at it Saturday, thrashing ICC foe Speedway 85-47. Cardenas and Giller once again led the way, combining for 35 points (Cardenas 19, Giller 16). With the win, the ladies improved their season record to 15 wins against just two losses.

Not to be outdone, the Wrestling Hornets dominated the ICC wrestling championship Saturday, easily out distancing Monrovia to bring home the team championship. This marks the first conference championship in wrestling since the 2008 season. The Hornets place 11 wrestlers in championship matches, with 6 individuals bringing home conference championships! Outstanding individual performances are listed below:
