Multiple Teams · AD Update – Ethan Smiley Advances to State & Boys Basketball Defeats Rushville

Hope you were able to get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend!
Wanted to update you on BGHS athletic events from Friday and Saturday:

Friday night: BGHS boys varsity and JV basketball traveled to Rushville. Both teams posted victories.
Leading the way for the varsity were senior guards Dylan Allen and Chase Andries. Allen paced the Hornets with 21 points, while Andries chipped in with 20. The win pushes the Hornets season record to 13-6, while the JV record is now 15-4.
Saturday: IHSAA Wrestling Semi-state
Junior Ethan Smiley pushed his season record to 42-1, finishing 3rd overall in the New Castle semi-state. Smiley advances to the IHSAA state wrestling championships for the 3rd consecutive year. Ethan finished 8th in the state competition last year as a sophomore.
The state wrestling championships begin this Friday, February 17th with the Parade of Champions at 5:30 pm, wrestling is set to begin at 6 pm. The state finals take place at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis.
Ethan’s first round opponent is Jack Tolin from Chesterton.
