Game Recap

Beech Grove defeated Bishop Chatard Monday by the score of 5-3. Kole Aping went the distance for the Hornets on the mound, picking up his 2nd straight win and striking out 10 Trojans while allowing just 2 earned runs.

Offensively, Beech Grove scored 5 runs on 8 hits and was able to manufacture runs through bunts and clutch hitting. Senior Zach Ringham led the Hornets, going 3 for 3 at the plate with an RBI. Dallas Culpepper and Gavin Hess added 2 hits each as well, with Hess driving in the first run. Junior Jalen Romine and Terrice Pope scored 2 runs, while Sam Tunny added a single to help the Hornets get baserunners all night.

The win is the 2nd one for the seniors against a Catholic school in their 4 years at Beech Grove (Scecina) and is a huge one for the Hornets. It brings Beech Grove to 4-10 on the season and a big momentum boost heading into conference play this week against Lutheran and Scecina. The Hornets will host Lutheran at Sarah T. Bolton Park on Tuesday at 5:30 PM, then travel to Scecina on Wednesday.
