Multiple Teams · Matt’s Minutes – girls tennis advances in county & boys baseball defeats Chatard


Monday night was a productive night for the BGHS athletic department.

 

Girls tennis advanced into the 2nd round of the Marion County Tournament by downing ICC foe Lutheran by a team score of 5-0. With the win last night, the girls move on to face Ben Davis tonight. The match is scheduled for 5 pm, at Beech Grove (Weather permitting!!!)

 

The Lady Hornets put together one of their best team efforts of the season in dominating Lutheran; Individual winners and scores can be seen below:

#3 Singles McKiyla Kimbrough 6-2, 6-3
#1 Doubles Caroline Cathcart/Sophia Solorio 6-3, 6-3
#2 Doubles Kasey Arthur/Nathalia Mamot 6-4, 2-6, 7-5

Also putting together a great effort was the varsity baseball team; The Hornets traveled to Chatard and came away with a 5-3 victory.
Leading the charge was senior stalwart Kole Aping; Kole went the distance on the mound for the Hornets, striking out 10 Trojans and allowing just 2 earned runs.
At the plate, Zach Ringham pounded out 3 hits with an RBI, while Gavin Hess had one RBI to go along with 2 hits. Junior Dallas Culpepper also chipped in, adding 2 hits, while Jalen Romine scored 2 runs.
The boys are back in action tonight (weather permitting) against ICC foe Lutheran.
