Beech Grove lost to Scecina on Wednesday night by the score of 6-4. The Hornets got off to a hot start with a 2-run home run by Dallas Culpepper to give Beech Grove a 2-0 lead. Scecina responded with 3 runs of their own in the bottom of the 1st, however, to take a 3-2 lead. It was 4-4 heading into the bottom of the 6th inning before the Crusaders scored 2 runs, then held Beech Grove in the 7th inning to win the game.
Sophomore Terrice Pope led Beech Grove with 2 hits, including a double, an RBI, and a run scored. Gavin Hess added a double of his own, with Nic Ancelet and Jordan Reel adding hits as well. The home run by Culpepper was the first of the season for the Hornets and the third one of his career.
The loss brings Beech Grove to 4-11 on the season and 2-4 in the Indiana Crossroads Conference. The Hornets will conclude conference play Thursday night, hosting Lutheran in a make-up game at 5:30.
