Beech Grove Athletics has a busy week as we begin to close out our winter sports season.
Boys Swimming and Diving
On Thursday, Feb. 13th, the boy’s swimming and diving team will celebrate senior night in their final home meet of the season. The Hornets will be matching up with Brebeuf Jesuit and Herron High School. The meet is scheduled to start at 6:00 pm. Senior night recognition will start at 5:45. We would love to see you there supporting our swimming Hornets before they head into sectional meets next week.
Seniors to be recognized will be Trent Eckstein, Kevin Kinder, Kyle Margerum Capul, Anthony Moreno Fierro, Brian Sorensen, and Andrew Galvez
This past week six of our varsity wrestlers competed in the regional tournament. For many of the younger wrestlers, it was a valuable learning experience and a chance to experience some elevated competition. Senior wrestler, Harley Taylor was able to pass through to semi-state with a 4th place finish in his weight class. He will compete this Saturday, Feb. 15th, at New Castle High School. The semi-state meet is scheduled to start at 11:00 am.
Boy’s varsity basketball has a busy week with three games scheduled. They are coming off a tough loss to Roncalli High School and looking to pick up conference wins against Cardinal Ritter and Cascade this week. The Hornets face off against Ritter tomorrow, Feb. 12th. JV takes the court at 6:00 with varsity to follow. The same times are posted for Friday’s game at Cascade. Varsity is currently 4-0 in conference competition. They are looking to stay undefeated in conference play after this week’s games. Rushville comes to town on Saturday for an afternoon game. JV will start at 1:00 pm and varsity is scheduled to start at 2:30. If the Hornets can pull off three straight wins it will improve their varsity record to 12-6 on the season.
