The three-man backfield of fullback Isaiah Hulse, tailback Sergio Hulse and quarterback Jordan Reel combined for 376 of Beech Grove’s 396 rushing yards and totaled seven of the eight Beech Grove touchdowns as the Orange and Black beat outmanned Howe (0-5) 59-0 Friday night in a non-conference affair at Howe’s Samuel T. Kelley Athletic Field.

Sergio led the way with 143 yards on 11 carries while Isaiah rushed for 134 on 11 totes and Reel 99 on eight rushes. The defense came up big for Beech Grove as it held the hosts to minus-1 yard of total offense (minus-12 rushing, 11 passing) and intercepted seven Howe aerials, two of which were caught by Charles Ellis. Junior Kyion Tyler snared a 72-yard TD pass from backup quarterback Jaden Mullins in the fourth quarter as Beech Grove (3-2) won going away.

The Hornets will return to Indiana Crossroads Conference play this Friday night as they travel to Monrovia’s Gordon Hadley Field to face the host Bulldogs in a 7 p.m. kickoff.

News and Notes: After Beech Grove took a 50-0 lead with 35 seconds to go in the first half, Howe decided to play the remainder of the contest with a running clock…The Hornets set a school record by scoring in their 52nd consecutive game, breaking the previous mark of 51, which began in the season opener of 1985 and ended when New Palestine shut out Beech Grove 21-0 in Week 5 of the 1990 campaign…Beech Grove’s 59-0 win represents the second-largest margin of victory in program history, surpassed only by the 63-0 whitewash of Mooresville November 1, 1972 in that year’s season finale
