Beech Grove defeated Triton Central Friday night 29-21 in its Coaches vs. Cancer Game. It was a complete team win for the Hornets, rushing for 310 yards and only allowing 95 yards on the ground. Of the 310 yards rushing, Senior Isaiah Hulse had 164 yards on the ground, with Kyion Tyler adding 119 yards of his own. Hulse found the end zone 3 times and Tyler broke a 57 yard TD run to get the Hornets on the board early.
Defensively, the Hornets’ run defense was stout in only allowing those 95 yards rushing on 36 carries (2.6 yards a carry). Juniors Sergion Hulse and Terrice Pope had interceptions on defense for the BG defense as well. Junior Jordan Reel iced the game, recovering on onside kick with 1 minute remaining to seal the win.
The win for the Hornets comes at a great time with the IHSAA tournament 2 weeks away. The win also closes out the conference schedule for the Hornets. Beech Grove will host Mooresville Friday 10/13 at 7 PM. It is the final regular season game for Beech Grove and also is Senior Night. Beech Grove will then host Greenwood in the first round of the state tournament Friday 10/20 at 7 PM.
