The hornets pulled out another team win in the final round of the Speedway Invite. #3 Singles Chase Alford wins another match in straight sets (6-0, 6-3). Chase pushes his record to 4-0 on the season and earned a first place medal for his performance at #3 singles. #1 doubles Dean Hayward and Cody Shepherd won their second match of the day in straight sets (6-1, 6-0) and moved their season record to 3-1. #2 doubles Alex Geiger and Matthew Pettigrew helped secure the team win with their straight set victory (6-1, 6-0).
Collin Eckstein lost another grueling three set match to the eventual medalist at the #1 singles position. Collin fought hard in his comeback attempt after dropping the first set and coming back to win the second. He wasn’t able to hang on in the third set tiebreaker.
The team’s record improves to 3-1 on the season as they gear up for a tough week or road matches. They will play again at Southport @5p.m. on Tuesday.
