The boys tennis team won their season opener by the score of 3-2. It was a closely contested match as three of the five matches went into a third set. #1 singles Collin Eckstein was victorious in his match after dropping the first set but storming back to win two straight sets (2-6, 6-1, 6-4). #3 singles Chase Alford won his first career varsity match in straight sets (6-3, 6-3) and the #1 doubles pair of Dean Hayward and Cody Shepherd won in straight sets as well (6-2, 6-0). #2 singles Trent Eckstein fought hard in his three set match but fell short (6-4, 2-6, 1-6). #2 doubles partners Alex Geiger and Matthew Pettigrew took their opponents to three sets in a highly competitive match (2-6, 6-4, 5-7).
The junior varsity team tied their match with freshman Caiden Lundsford winning 7-6 (7-3). Senior Pharnavaz Tkemaladz played his first high school matched and showed improvement throughout his set. The boys tennis team will have their home opener on Thursday against Speedway in the opening round of the Speedway Invitational.
