Beech Grove Hornets Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 5-1 loss to Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter on Tuesday. Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter took the lead on a double in the first inning.
In the first inning, Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter got their offense started when Taylor Faulkenberg doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.
Faulkenberg earned the victory on the rubber for Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter. She lasted five innings, allowing 0 hits and 0 runs while striking out 12 and walking one. Lauren Beaman threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen giving up 3 hits and 1 run.
Lexi Ham took the loss for Beech Grove Hornets Varsity. She went six innings, allowing 5 runs on 3 hits and striking out 7.
Arial Keown, Hanna England, and Lexi Ham each collected one hit to lead Beech Grove Hornets Varsity. Lexi Ham doubled to score the one run for the hornets. Taylor Harmon got on by a hit by pitch and had a stolen base. Arial Keown also had a stolen base for the hornets.
Once again the hornets adjusted too late in the game at the plate. They are working on this everyday at practice and hopefully it will transfer over to the next upcoming game. If the Hornets adjust, they will be on top in these close games.
