Beech Grove Hornets Varsity and Lutheran Saints Varsity both contributed in the coaches vs cancer game tonight as they do every year alternating who hosts. This year both teams honored Coach Matt English and unfortunately the hornets watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 12-0 loss.
The Beech Grove Hornets Varsity struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Indianapolis Lutheran, giving up 12 runs with 9 overall hits.
Indianapolis Lutheran got things started in the first inning. An error scored two runs for Indianapolis Lutheran.
One bright spot for Beech Grove Hornets Varsity was a single by Tia O’Connor in the fourth inning, the only hit for the hornets.
Miranda Dunn earned the win for Indianapolis Lutheran. She allowed one hit and zero runs over five innings, striking out two.
Caley Johnson took the loss for Beech Grove Hornets Varsity. She surrendered nine runs on four hits. Defensively the team could not make the catches and putouts needed and committed 4 errors allowing unnecessary runs to score. Lexi Ham came in to pitch for the hornets and gave up 5 hits, surrendered 3 runs, striking out 6.
Indianapolis Lutheran tallied nine hits in the game. Kayla Dillinger and Gabby Moore each managed multiple hits for Indianapolis Lutheran. Indianapolis Lutheran was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error.
