Sophomore Damonte Henderson, picking up where he left off when he poured in a season-high 29 points Saturday afternoon at Decatur Central, added 17 more as the Beech Grove Hornets held off the visiting Greenwood Woodmen 48-43 Tuesday night on the Matt English Court at “The Hive.”

Freshman Jeremiah Tate added 10 points and sophomore Rynell Echols nine as the Hornets (6-2), who led 43-31, saw their lead whittled down to just 43-41 before pulling this one out of the so-called fire. Sophomore Damon Thompkins, freshman Cameron Brown and freshman Jeremiah Alexander each scored four points.

Sophomore Noah Apgar led the Woodmen with a game-high 19 points.

Coach Larry Williams’ Hornets will see action once again in the Indiana Crossroads Conference as they travel to Monrovia for a contest this Saturday night. Game time is 6 p.m.
