Seeking New Baseball Umpires (schools, youth leagues, and recreation programs)
By Quinten Starks | Jan 29, 2026 2:18 PM
A message from Ethan Law (Secretary, Indianapolis Umpire Association): As we prepare for the upcoming school baseball season, the Indianapolis Umpire Association (IUA) is actively recruiting new baseball umpires to support local schools, youth leagues, and recreation programs. The IUA provides a New Member Training Program designed to prepare individuals for officiating baseball games at the youth and school levels. Training focuses on rules knowledge, mechanics, positioning, game management, and professionalism. Official licensing is done with the state. Additional details regarding new member training meetings and state licensing requirements will be shared during IUA membership meetings. Our first membership meeting of the year is tonight at GuggmanHaus and begins at 6:30 PM, with subsequent membership meetings held every Tuesday at 6:30 PM. We encourage interested individuals to arrive early to mingle, meet current members, and ask questions. We ask for your assistance in sharing this opportunity with potential candidates within your school, league, or community. Former players, coaches, educators, and community members often make excellent officials. Anyone interested should email Trent Ross at trentross13@yahoo.com for additional information and next steps. Thank you for your continued partnership and support of quality baseball officiating.
