This past week, senior, Lillianna Jansen made her commitment to Indiana University Southeast to play softball for the Grenadiers. Jansen, who plans to pursue a degree in Special Education, is excited about the opportunity to play at the collegiate level under “Coach Buck” (Tiffany Buckmaster). Last season, Lillianna helped lead the Hornets to a sectional and regional championship. She and her teammates were the first Hornet softball team to achieve a semi-state appearance. Jansen crushed it at the plate last year with .550 batting average. Her defense was stellar as well with 20 throw-outs from behind the plate as the team’s catcher. That stat was just shy of the school record, but Lillianna was able to put herself on the softball record board for most doubles hit in a season. She also tied the school record with Malone Moore for 50 hits in a season. Jansen stays busy as co-captain of the Hornets soccer team and also plays travel softball for Indy Crush. Her eight seasons with the Crush have allowed her to build the skills and competitive drive needed to take her game to the collegiate level. We’re proud to call Lillianna Jansen a Beech Grove Hornet, and we can’t wait to see what the softball team can do during her senior season. We know she wears the black and orange with pride, but we are so excited to watch her play in cream and crimson next year at IU Southeast. Congratulations Lilli!
