The Beech Grove High School Athletic Department serves nearly 250 student-athletes in 21 varsity sports. Our success in athletics is largely because of the community support our teams, coaches, and student-athletes receive. I am writing to you today because we are looking for community-minded supporters of the Beech Grove Hornets! What you may not realize is that Indiana is one of only a few states in the country that are not allowed to use tax dollars to support the operational costs of high school athletics. Creative revenue sources are critical in our efforts to maintain and improve the quality and depth of education-based athletics for our student-athletes. You becoming a “Business Partner” to Beech Grove High School Athletics is vital to the operation and improvement of our athletic programs. While I know your business is required to work within a budget, I want you to know that your support of our mission is difficult to put a dollar value on. Businesses work hard for the communities they serve, just like our Beech Grove Hornets (coaches and athletes) are working hard to make our community proud. Your contributions will help fill the ever-increasing gap between revenue and expenditures in high school sports. Partnership dollars will be used for the purchasing and upkeep of sports equipment, purchasing of team uniforms, and awards for our student-athletes. Sponsorship monies may be used towards one male and one female senior-athlete scholarship to be awarded at the end of each school year. Studies show that students participating in extra-curricular activities make better grades, have better school attendance, and have a significantly lower dropout rate. Athletics offer opportunities for students to serve their school, enjoy fellowship and goodwill, and learn the qualities of good citizenship. We view our mission with these student-athletes as one of preparing them for life.
