Junior Harper Moore has been having a stand-out softball season. She recently broke the record for most triples in one season (currently at seven), and she is on track to break the single season batting average record. Heading into sectional play next week, Moore has been an absolute menace at the plate. She currently holds a .675 batting average and a .723 on base percentage. This season alone she has 56 hits, 23 RBIs, and 38 runs scored. As a junior with yet another full season to play, Harper has surpassed 100 career hits, 100 career runs, and 100 career stolen bases. Coach Kacey Ferrel put it best, “Harper has been killing it her junior season.” Harper said it has always been her dream to play softball at the D1 collegiate level. This past fall, Moore committed to play at Purdue University after graduating next school year. It will be a family affair when she puts on a Boilermaker uniform. Her sister, Malone Moore (class of ‘24), is currently a pitcher at Purdue. Like many others who want to play at the highest level, Harper Moore has been cutting her teeth in the travel leagues for many years. With her team, Indy Magic Gold, Harper sees some of the top talent in the region. Experiencing elite competition during the off-season is what allows players like Harper to see so much success on the field at the high school level. Moore will put those countless hours of practice and additional reps to work next week as the Hornets face Roncalli in the first round of sectional play. We wish the team good luck as they look to make a sectional run. Congratulations Harper on an outstanding season. We are #HornetProud!
