Who is ready for NBA All-Star 2024 in Indianapolis February 16-18? In a lead-up to the festivities, on Saturday, January 13th, Beech Grove will host an NBA All-Star 24 Knock Out Contest in between the girls' JV and varsity basketball games. The NBA All-Star 24 Indiana Knockout Contest is open to legal residents of Indiana who are between 10 and 18 years of age at the time of entry and are not current members of any high school, college, university, or professional basketball team. See other rules below. The first 24 players to sign up will get to compete. Sign-ups will be first-come-first-serve starting at 5:45 pm in the BGHS athletic lobby on the day of the game. The winner of the Knock Out Challenge will win two tickets to the NBA All-Star Crossover event held at the Indiana Convention Center. KNOCK OUT GAME RULES Contestants form one single file line starting at the foul line, facing the basket, and extending back toward or beyond half-court. The first person in line will be determined by the representatives of the applicable HS Game’s home team’s school. The initial order of the contestants in the line cannot change during the contest. • The first two contestants in line get a basketball (NBA sized) to start the contest. • The first contestant shoots a free throw. If the free throw is made, the contestant gets the ball and passes the ball to the next contestant in line and then goes to the back of the line and stays in the contest awaiting the next chance to shoot. • If the first contestant misses the initial free throw, he/she can get the rebound and take another shot from anywhere on the court. The contestant keeps shooting until a shot is made unless he/she gets knocked out prior to making a shot. If a shot is made prior to being knocked out, the contestant gets the ball and passes the ball to the next contestant in line and then goes to the back of the line and stays in the contest awaiting the next chance to shoot. • Once the contestant whose turn it is to shoot shoots the initial free throw, the next player in line is able to then shoot a free throw. If that contestant makes a basket before the person in front of him/her, that contestant has just "knocked out" the player in front of him/her. If that contestant misses the free throw, that contestant can get the rebound and take another shot from anywhere on the court. Once again, if that contestant makes it before the person in front of him/her, that contestant knocks out the player in front of him/her. However, if the contestant behind him/her makes a shot before he/she does, then he/she is the one knocked out. • The contest continues until one contestant is remaining. That last contestant remaining is declared the winner. Good Luck and thanks for being part of NBA All-Star 2024 right here in Beech Grove!
